Frequently Asked Questions

Retractable awnings provide shade, UV protection, and energy savings by reducing indoor cooling costs. They also enhance outdoor comfort and can be retracted when not in use, extending their lifespan.

If you live in Saskatchewan, you know what it is like to go from no wind to 50kmph gusts in an instant.  In order to cope with this, we have 3 different options:

1.  Manual/Motorized Retraction – simply put, you would need to go out and retract your awning to prevent any damage.

2.  Hold Down Poles – these are poles that fasten the outside edge of the awning front to a location on your deck, stabilizing your deck awning against strong winds.

3.  Wind Sensor – upgrade your motorized awning with a sensor mounted on the outside edge that automatically retracts your porch awning in strong winds.  

Absolutely! We offer both manual and motorized retractable awnings. Motorized options provide convenient push-button or remote-controlled operation, with some models featuring wind sensors for automatic retraction.

A minimum of 12″ is typically sufficient for most awning types but that can change to as much as 16″. For tighter spaces, it is a case-by-case situation. Call us today, and we’ll advise you on what we need to know to give you a good answer.

We advise deciding to add a motor prior to ordering your awning. To retrofit one, your awning must be uninstalled, returned to the supplier to have the motor added, and then re-installed. This process is time-consuming, costly, and inconvenient.

Minimal maintenance is needed! Simply clean the fabric and frame periodically with mild soap and water. Retracting the awning during harsh weather conditions will help extend its lifespan.
